at around 3:40 on the top island, how do you unload units instantly. For the last 10000 drops I ahve done, I always see transport move into position, then hover for a few seconds, then release units.
Some people, like the better setons players, release the units right as the transport gets into position, it is all in one motion, no hover, and if the transport has a subsequent move order, it gets out right away.

The transporter needs to align itself to the drop target if it isn't facing it (I'd say about 15% leeway either way).

So when you plot out your waypoints for it to fly along put an extra one it to line it up nice and straight before that final part of the trip. Then it doesn't pause mid flight to orientate itself.

This should be buffed that transport unload/load time would always be the shortest possible, because drops in mid/lategame are more rare than chicken with tooth. one reason for that is that huge delay on release, which mostly causes expensive drop tries to fail.

Security of your drop force is really important. If the margin for error during a drop is so small that a few seconds in delay is likely to cause you to fail, then, perhaps you need to properly risk assess. No one is going to avoid dropping simply because of an extra second or two in delay.

Yes, it is unfortunate that this delay can result in the loss of units. But if you find yourself in that situation than the decision to drop was likely not prudent to begin with.

As was said before, you can reduce the difficulty for the game engine by avoiding movement over terrain height differences, and dropping onto level ground with plenty of open space.

You need to move the transport yourself and try to get the units as close as possible, TA. It's really frustrating and I don't know why it changed.

Sometimes there is a delay in dropping. I've never quite figured it out. Pretty random I think.

Wasn't there some mumbling about "gotta give the transport a long move order to get the drop fast" or such?

Yes think it's faster if you set a second short move order before the drop command.
