The most important thing to do if you're new to the whole dev thing is get a GitHub account, and get github installed on your machine, see http://wiki.faforever.com/index.php?tit ... School_Git

There's a full guide for setting up the client code.

The server dev lesson is a bit barebones right now, but don't worry I'm going to be adding to that as the day goes on.

if there is anything i have to download can i know in advance please? Download times for me are truly outrageous

you will probably need docker https://github.com/docker/toolbox/releases/download/v1.11.1/DockerToolbox-1.11.1.exe. Also you can download the repository you want to have a look at( with git or as a zip file) from github.

Where was this? I looked through the thread and missed it if it's there...

Someplace else its says "no prior skills needed" -> sending people to coding school would be a hassle. Wouldn't you have to register there too? I think I have registered someplace. That's additional work that may scare away people (yes, man are lazy in that regard :p ).
Rather, I think it would be smart to have a somewhat kinda fixed time schedule with broad topics to allow flexibility. E.g. 10-11 am: introduction to programming with Python incl. basics.
Later you'ld move to the server.
Or have seperate channels so people can switch if multiple programmers work at the same time.

Well I'm just saying if people want to really capitalize on the lessons it wouldn't be a bad idea, I'm not saying they have to.
