However, there is an easy solution: Just set yourself a time limit for each mission! Or better yet, play as you wish and note down the ingame time it took, then try to beat that in your next run.

As for the story, vanilla had probably the better one (and it had actually 3 very different campaigns, one for each faction), however, as has been said, the first 4 missions of each campaign were more like tutorials and you didn't get the big toys up until the last mission. Whereas in FA you only have 6 missions total but each of them has epic proportions and you start with a full arsenal of units including experimentals you know from vanilla.

Well it's true that there were bit more time limits in vanilla missions but it was not everywhere. You also had a lot of time for turtling.

If you want I can add time limits to most of the FA missions as well ^^ I would also make sence

Could you do that please? I need a challenge for FA.

2/3 of vanilla campaign was just a tutorial, unit introduction. There were no challenge at all. And difficulty was far easier than in FA.

And that part too much of trust was put into one colonel cause first mission is basically saving last UEF military command. There wasn't too much left from UEF.

And if you compare how Arnold died in vanilla (even though he didnt die) to how Dostya dies, bit different cases. Arnold had problems with fw T1 T2 units!! Supreme commander Arnold...

I think a lot of that was Gameplay and Story Segregation. The original campaign wanted to have its epic moments throughout the campaign even if you were playing with T1 units. It's jarring if you already know how the units are supposed to act but what "really" happened isn't what was being shown to us on screen.

In the first mission, the only challenge is yourself. Not the enemy, but forgetting to defend yourself from the GC that comes later on. I've also seen how they put too much trust into one colonel to do suicide missions for them. That's probably why Dostya died in the first place. The plot is unbearable. It just uses plot devices that create more questions. What happened to

When I first played this game, I didn't even pay attention to any errors. But now, after experiencing developers trying to get away with being lazy, I've become strict with what makes a game good. And FA is far from it.

you should try Speed2's Sera mission, that is whole new level of difficulty :D

That's a good point. But the main problem with the FA campaign, is that you literally turtle and build up an army. If you want a "challenge", you can play without shields, but it's still easy. I just don't like how they encourage turtling.
