Let's give one last server update a chance before we judge...

TA, I think your performance issues are out of your hands. I gave the tweaks Com, yourself, and etc suggested and decided I'd rather wait until the game is updated. Sometimes I enter a 1v1 and the fps is at like 10-20 at best for no apparent reason other than some glitch in PVP code. It's frustrating as hell but it really is just going to take admittance that it's not my fault.

I was hoping to donate some more $ to the community but since there is little information about progress other than posting an issue tracker I'm not convinced. I'll take what we got, though, and be happy with it. This isn't specifically a threat or target against anyone working on the code. I know everyone has busy lives and etc and I guess we just don't have enough interest to move things forward faster.

It sucks, TA. I feel ya, though.

In the end all speculation all bullshit. I would honestly stop trying to look for solutions on your end. There are just too much variables to reach any kind of useful conclusion in topics like this. The inherent lag through networking issue, the underwater software complexity (reducing driver overhead is the next big thing in the industry) and hardware configuration like Morax is suggesting. Then there is the shady code of FA itself, left for dead by GPG and further complicated by a million mods and a lobby platform that is buggy at best (sorry people, I know it's your free time, but it's getting worse since Zep departed).

In the mid of this mess you are trying to make sense of a vague issue. I admire your perseverance, but maybe the whole thing has become like a red rag on a bull. Unless you somehow enjoy tinkering with this crap, I would suggest you stop trying to solve it unless you gain access to some brilliant mind with access to the source code, an engineer from Nvidia/AMD and a lab environment.

I'm fully convinced newer is not better in this game as you have illustrated by needing to babysit the thread affinities and priorities.

The plot on bottom right:
red line: how much stuff you can send
orange line: how much stuff you are sending
dark blue: how much you can receive
light blue how much you are receiving

when red line dips below orange or dark blue under light blue things like unit selection, factory que updates, etc. are not possible

interestingly you can see how the red line would dip down during times when a lot of information was being sent my way, limiting how many orders I can send back.

Ideas? I do have a feeling that this could be related to either the gpu based frame limiter as well as nvidia's love for throwing interrupts all over the place. Or it maybe related to network settings...

This was an extreme example, because the ping kept spiking pretty hard, but this kind of lag is present against all players with connections that jump up and down.
