I've never done any 3D models, and I barely have time to play the game anymore sadly. However I do have a desire to do some high quality models/renders. That mantis is looking really great. I'm going to assume this is a significant amount of work?

I agree that Ilshavoh or something would be really cool to do. I was thinking about doing an ACU - though like I say I have zero experience.

But now that the quad drive system is designed I should be able to get the rest done quicker as it was the most challenging:

Nice work Morax :) let me know when the Mantis is done, so you draw them from scratch ? or you have the undelying files extracted

Yeah 100% from scratch as you can see in my first post where I showed about a dozen steps with the sketches to make the 3-D extrudes/cuts/lofts/blends etc.

The Cybran units are kind of boring since they're so blocky so I'm eager to get to the Seraphim or Aeon ones. The Ilshavoh and Harbinger will look phenomenal as the SolidWorks rendering really relies on curves to show detail...

If you search "UEF" or "Seraphim" you will see similar results although there are only a couple in each.

Sub-par quality in my opinion although the Mantis one makes me content.

It will start to be obvious that I'm deviating from the model and putting in some grossly detailed sections like the rear of the leg with the truss-like structures. My goal here is to make it more "Cybran" if you will

I can't wait to model the Ilshavoh next and I probably got a lot left to do here...

This reminds me that I need to get back to animating. My enthusiasm has faded somewhat though. Though if we build an FA HD remake or even a SupCom 3, I could probably commit more heavily to animating for it.

My model is pretty much purely going to be an aesthetic "show piece," but in its efforts I'll learn how to model some and be better prepared. I'm quite certain if there is enough motivation to build a dev team for a game through this community it will only happen if we keep motivated about possibilities. Nothing may come from it yet we will enjoy doing it for fun I hope.

I'm enjoying this project... hopefully will get an update out this week.

If all you ever do is just play the game, sure you'll use strat view most of the time, but if you're like myself, and probably many other people who like watching replays, you would zoom in to see the epicness, only to find nearly 10 year old graphics and broken walk/run cycles.

During intense micro periods such as gun comm with huge army vs gun comm with huge army the zoomed-in view is kind of a must... Yes, the strategic zoom is used quite a bit but i always find time to zoom in and micro properly if I want to get an edge.
