If host is not an ass he will let you both stay against each other. (You get a lot of ass hosts because this community has serious superiority complex issues and an elitist culture that is bordering on pretentious snobbery)

The benefits of having noobs playing a long side stronger players is that they learn faster.

When I was 500 I would spam join 1000+ games eventually some would let me stay, and the non ass hosts realised that I was actually fairly capable as after so many games I learn to be on par with the other 1k+ players.

I am now 1300 and playing usually in games averaging at 1500-1600 and still putting up a fairly decent fight.

If you are surrounded by better people then you yourself will become better, irrelevant of any innate ability. The larger the gap the faster the learning. This is one of the reasons why the oh fabled "coaching" is promoted so much.

Basically just keep trying till you find someone who isn't a complete ass

More than you would know, and you're free to play the spot against me on any of those ;)

And i do think that have a better idea of how is the balance than you. Maybe even about water balance.

LOL obviously

To be fair there is a point in here, not exactly the way V put it, but anyway...
The most popular ladder maps are (mostly, Sheeo showed stats at some point) 5x5 landmaps, so a new player who does not know any maps (and therefore has not selected any) will have to play overwhelming majority of his games on 5x5 landmaps.

What do I think new players should play? - Whatever the hell they want! I can't tell others how they should enjoy their free time. Go ahead and play all the thermo and gap games you want, it's alright.

Seems I was too subtle once again.

Let's try again : Put a lot more maps where water and navy are critical in ladder maps.

P.S. : Funny that you mention setons and I did not. Although I did expect that stupid answer ;)

You'd be surprised that several others maps are team maps, and good to play , AND where oceans are critical to dominate.

Open your mind, there's more than setons vs ladder. :)

Well ZLO, is smart enough to know who you are. You talking about other navy team game map that require naval dominance in order to win.. Yeah that's true i completely agree (i don't know though how many time you played those "other naval team game map" though)

ladder games brainwashes you into having a vision of the balance of the game that revolves almost only around the land tier.

This is very bad and led to very bad decisions in terms of so called balance.

most of ladder players are team game players too. I think they have 0 lesson to get from a player that play 95% of his game on seton, and the last 5% are gap of rohan and water of isis. And i do think that have a better idea of how is the balance than you. Maybe even about water balance.

I mean... 1v1 game is different in almost every aspect, and most importantly.... It has expansions.... On setons there is only one island per ocean and it is pretty close to rock player... Other space is actual main bases of players, no mexes in mid to give any chance to agressive player...

But, you should really begin with ladder which is awesome in faf.

Custom games are not regulated, they are too slow to play, if you play
with your equals you will probably not learn much. Your superiors
Will not tolerate you either. Bad habits and unnecessary frustration
Can only come out of them as a beginner. An d there's a
Bunch of other reasons why you should begin with ladder. I just don't have the time
To analyse them right now.
Only play custom games to fool around. That they are ranked doesn't mean anything.

Also, bashing is not allowed, even between yourself (I don't know about a specific "seton community" or even if you are friends between each others). I will punish these behaviors more often if the future.
If someone join, you don't know him, he has low or black rating, he plays badly : you have no right to bash him. You knew that it would possibly happen when you pressed "launched".
