I'll update FAChart to work with the new format. I don't think it should take too long. As for the python version, I do know python but I'm pretty sure it would take me some time to do that. I am interested in doing it though.

Or, in other words: how did the original FA-Chart do it? :)

That way, FA-Chart would be implemented directly in the lobby !

You can gain about 5-10% of that size by not base64 encoding

i am just saying, the replay folder is larger than 300mbyte for me.

!?
I highly doubt it.

ok, half of that was old SCFA replays. just so you know average size is 230kb for me. now you know.
i will now stop wasting your time

I can totally agree with adding compression to replays. They are filled with repetitive data.

Ze_pilot, who should I talk to about the new replay format and how I might make FAChart compatible?

You can find the encoding protocol here :
https://bitbucket.org/thepilot/forged-a ... yserver.py
(after def writeReplayFile(self) )

Basically, to decode it, you need to
- strip the first line (a json string).
- Strip the following '\n' character.
- Base64 decode the rest of the file.
- unzip it the result (a standard gzip library is used).

I highly doubt it.

On the server, the total amount of replays that was ever played on FAF since the .fafreplay format exist is 7.0G.
There are 88.513 replays in the directory.
That's an average of 0,08 Mb per replay.

300 mb of replays mean that you would have played about 3.750 games.

But the database only recorded you on 837 games.

Maybe you only played 837 12 vs 12 1 hour games only, or you are mistaken.

Your replay folder should be about 66 Mb. Zipping it would reduce it to about 60 Mb.
