Well, yes. The game gives you two options of either moving in formation (slowly) or moving quickly (like assholes).

I think this is a good balance.

But even if I didn't, this is not something I can change. Pathing is done in the engine.

and funk if you send a group of mantis to run some positions they dont hold the formation and run like assholes, in 2 lines.
and you run at the max velocity with a mantis formation.

Cause is broken.

all know that when you advance running with an army they start to run in files like assholes.
I think ¿dont could the units go fast at same that when they advance in formation?
if they can advance in formation why they cant run in formation?
have we some way to fix it?

I could find no Google results for "run in files like assholes" so I cannot tell, precisely, what behavior or condition you are attempting to describe.

I assume you are asking why units cannot travel in formation at top speed. The answer to this is simple: Each unit must calculate its path individually, so the lower speed ensure that each individual unit making it's own minute corrections can both speed up and slow down to match the formation as needed. This is similar to real life... you never see infantry or tanks moving in formation at their max speeds for the same reasons you don't see it in supcom.

And no, there is no way to "fix" it because it's not broken. There's no way to change it because pathing is done in the engine.

If every unit was already moving at their maximum speed, it wouldn't be possible for units that were behind to "catch up" and fall into their place.

I'm not sure if this is handled by the engine or not, but it would be interesting to see if it'd be possible to detect when all units are in their proper place in formation, so that the formation can then move as fast as it can.
