if it was instantly put in storage it would be weird

if it was a slow reclaim, that might be annoying cos player might need something urgent, eg AA vs mercies

middle ground is to have have huge reclaim speed?

obviously this would happen too

and if the power/mass storage is full when it happens, the storage gets damaged.

Any reclaim mechanic would just break everything cause now we cant cancel instantly which is pretty important to be able to do.

Even with insta cancel returning resources, I'm opposed to this personally because it makes it less punishing to make poor decisions. But I guess if the numbers were small enough I could see it reducing some pain without being too soft on poor play

Cool but nobody will do that: make 2-3 separate build order queues, when you switch factory moves unfinished unit aside xD
slippery slope: if we do that for facs, will we do that with upgraides too?
for small units we have soft stop... idk about big units like battleship...

it would have to be rather low,else its abusable with adjacency and it might be hard to code a solution for that

its solvable by taking into account the adjacency bonus when the factory is cancelling the order, but that isnt foolproof either, actually.

with some more thought it can be fixed if needed though

I am all for this. If you are building anything outside a factory you can always reclaim it for power and mass. So cancelling factory orders should also return some resources as well. Like people have pointed out though, it takes time. So as a balance for getting the resources back instantly we should return only half.

This mostly happens you have to cancel to counter bombers but since early bombers are not that common anymore there are only a few situations where I want to do this, not counting when I misclicked and built the wrong thing.

Still, the idea is good. I'd like to see it happen.
