Two speed togglable ability for Spirit?

In order to make Aeon less fiddly at the T1 land stage why not give the spirit an ablilty that allows it to change speed. So by default it would travel out the factory the same as the aurora so no extra clicks to manage once your spam is underway. However if you specifically wish to scout enemy territory fast you can toggle the unit ability to boost its speed to what it currently is. Good for escorting a lab etc.

Advantage: - Aeon T1 land becomes less fiddly. More noob friendly.
Advantage: - No more will your spirits sprint into walls of tanks.
Disadvantage: - Aeon T1 land may become more powerful (although given their slow speed, low health (especially vs bombers) I dont see making them more user friendly a negative really).

I think the fast speed of the spirit only hurts noobs as they are required to add extra apm into land battles to account for the aurora speed.

since this feature will not hurt i think it can possibly be added.
but spirits may still run in front of aurora in many cases cause aurora is not just slow, it also wiggles around when you give orders

Why is micromanaging your spirits not part of the APM cost you pay as Aeon for having tanks that can defeat other tanks at their tier mass efficiently? No, slow speed and low hp don't really do enough to make them equal to the other tanks.

If only there was a function... a tool in the player's arsenal where they could make a unit follow another unit around... assist them in some way shape or form...

A shame that never happened, I might just go write a strongly worded letter to Chris Taylor about how his lack of foresight ruined my Aeon experience.

I understand where you're coming from but if you think about it a toggleable ability for spirits would make it even less noob friendly.

Imagine your spirits die at the front and you have to replace them, but every time this happens you have to toggle a new spirit to move fast. Then when they're at the front with the auroras you have to toggle them to be slow again.

An alternative is to use attack move whenever it's necessary. Spirits have a ranged attack and won't move ahead of auroras because they'll be attacking. And yeah I guess this doesn't help most of the time when you're closing a large distance between aurora and enemy tanks. Just make the move order and select the spirits so that you can assist the aurora as Moonbear suggested.

I am just imagining having to toggle speed with spirits every time I want to move them somewhere and it sounds really annoying-just my two cents.

Suprised no one is saying this would make aeon more op. The fact that their scouts die makes the faction harder use, which is good.
