To be honest I think we should just take the scathis from the 4th dimension mod and use that. I think it would work far better once its cost was balanced. I think it fits the role that community seems to want it to fit, better.

I don't really like the model for the Scathis' model from 4DM. I haven't played 4DM in forever, I think 1.5 years ago was the last time I played it, so it might have changed since then. It looks too much like a glorified shower-head on a giant tank chassis. However, it does make more sense than the current Scathis model, which... Stores its barrels... In the ground.

I think the cost at 93k mass is perfect.

Possibly: Make it amphibious and give it speed increase (2 from 1) to make it more manouverable.

Increase in speed and amphibiousness are good ideas to ensure the unit is still usable on bigger maps. Since it takes time to deploy, and cannot shoot while moving, speed 2 remains reasonable. It keeps the unit very different from the other artilleries.

I hope at some point, a good balance among all big t3 and t4 artilleries will be achieved.

I can agree with 93k mass. It would no longer be the cheap doomsinger that it is on 10x10 maps.

the scathis is not the problem
its fine just how it is. its risk reward rate is ok.
the problem is that the whole t4 scene is fucked up in my opinion.
the aeon have 2.5 useful t4 units. the battleship on water maps is a half.
the uef have only 1.5 useful t4 units. the carrier on water maps is a half.
but the cybran have 4 useful t4 units fitting for every situation.
i dont really play sera but i think they have 2.5 useful t4s.
this is my solution idea fot all artys in the game:
make all t3 artys kinda like the mavor. long range, high damage and expensive.
the mavor needs to be a stationary scathis with a faster rof than now and mabye 2 times he scathis range.
the mavors range should also be decreased.
same goes for the salvation.
so basically all t3 artys become mavors and salvation and mavor itself become stationary scathis with about the same cost but higher range and different advantages (higher dmg or range on mavor, big splash and high rof on salvation)
i know thats not excact data but im nit used to the... "balancing scene :D?"
and yes i know this thread is about the scathis but this is turning into a arty balance thread anyways (something really needed)

Imo the fact that shields will be buffed is enough nerf for the scathis for now. Let's take babysteps at balance.

Nah. The shield buff will be nice, but that will just mean that a scathis breaks through layered shields in 10 seconds instead of 5, lol. It still is really powerful, hence the price adjustments.

I tend to agree on your assessment of T4 units Golol. Experimental Transport would have been so good for UEF.
FA is a game of economic micromanagement (what StarCraft players mistakenly call 'macro') and tactical trumping (e.g. T2 PD countering T1 Spam).
