Its working fine for me now, but when a friend tries to join with the mod now, it says that an unknown sim mod was not properly installed, so there are still mysteries to deal with.

Because total Mayhem is not on the Vault, your should activate the mod inside the gamelobby.
And your friend need to download the mod manually.

He did. Affter a bunch of finagling, it was realized he messed up. He can join. We still have desync problems 100% of the time with total mayhem enabled, which is what prompted all of this. Doubt anything can be done about that. Total mayhem seems like a lost cause now, which is unfortunate.

so far we've only established that you can't play that mod with a friend (i still think that one of you fucked up the install somehow)

If I knew where logs were, I would.

Edit: I, too suspect that there's something fucked up. Never had a problem with Total Mayhem until I came back to FAF a few days ago.

Desyncs are almost always caused by unequal game files.

If you have no other mod then Total Mayhem activated and you have still desyncs, then one of the players has a different copy of Total Mayhem.

Mostly happened by copying the new Total Mayhem version over the top of an old version.

Or more difficult, Total mayhem is installed on 2 different locations.
Like one version is installed inside "C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods" And another version is installed inside the gamedirectory directly.

I've had him check game directory in steam, supposedly he has no mods folder (even though I thought it was part of the directory by default). I've had him do a fresh install of the mod, but desyncs were not resolved. After 24hr, he's getting the unknown sim mod error again. Going to post logs in other thread if I can obtain them, but since we are once again a step back, I suspect this may be a problem.

Hi, I posted this in another thread - so sorry for repeating myself! But it seems more relevent to post in here as well!

I'm finding this Total Mayhem 1.3.3 does not work at all!

None of the new units show any icons in the build menu, only that default "placeholder" (the blue circle shaped one) appears. That would be ok for now as it's just a cosmetic thing, but also none of the new units weapons do any damage - and they also leave "red laser traces" all over the game maps - permanently - though they do disappear and reappear at random as I move / zoom through the map.

That last Total Mayhem I used was 1.2.1, and that seemed not to have had these issues - but being old, does not have as many new units!

yes i saw your post at viewtopic.php?f=47&t=15039#p153586.

No need to doublepost. I view every forum post.

If you don't see any icons, then your mod is not installed right.
Total Mayhem itself as an iconsupport, same as FAF game version. So the icons are not in the right place. (maybe wrong directory)

Also if you see red lines and no unit-animations. The mod is not in his right place. (red lines are placeholder like the default icons)

Version 1.21 and 1.33 have the same units. the only difference is, that 1.33 has less errors and can be run on every game version.

Please check your modinstallation again.
This should be the dirpath to the Total Mayhem mod_info.lua:
