Perhaps there is a long term solution. If you can choose a custom proxy in the lobby, anyone who has permission from Ze_PilOt can host a transparent proxy server which will communicate to the main server. Best thing would be if you can optionally set up an ssl connection server and client side with custom certifiates. SSL should be optonally because certain countries prohibit encryption.
