Ship Rocking Effect

Postby Astrofoo » 09 May 2013, 03:32

I remember a couple months ago there was discussion of some kind of a ship rocking effect when idle. Is this still possible? Or was it just forgotten? Either way, it still would be kinda cool to have.

I believe there was an issue of ships not shooting correctly.

What would it take for you to continue?

nothing if you guys ask i will propose it as an "visual" change for the next testing mod
the only thing that bothers me is that so far i have to write it 2 times into the blueprint, one time for idle and one time for movement thread.. is there a more elegant way? for example with catagories?

Because they are on the sea. Sea State and movement causes ships to rock. At present, everything is simulated as though the vessel were on a leasurely cruise in dead calm water.

That is true, but there has to be some solid storm to rock modern military ships hard enough to be visible from strategic view, then again you could not see anything due to the massive storm clouds :D

Even frigates are not nutshells..

So without waves and weather I don't think that would really add immersion or realism.

Oh and the firing of a broadside does not cause a battleship to rock either..
