Pause/Unpause Units

Postby ggstack » 08 Apr 2013, 15:37

I remember this in the original supcom (maybe I am mistaken).
You could pause a unit, or groups of units, then give it orders and unpause it and it would carry out those orders.
This would allow you to carry out groups of complex maneuvers (such as large transport drops etc.).

I think it should be implemented if it isnt

There is a pause button under the repeat button (left of the icons at the bottom bar). I don't know if that's what you mean, but if you mean pausing movements, I wouldn't hope on that mate :p

Nice, but how would this be implemented?
I am not a programmer nor scripted.
I suspect it will be more or less the same as the other pause button.

Well, there is some trick you can use:
Order units to assist ground, give them the orders to be executed and then delete the assist ground order (ctr + shift + tab + click on the icon). Doesn't work perfectly, though. For syncing air units I just use formation move + shift.

yea thats nice trick too, also ETA time prediction (that time calculated near your build and move orders) can help a little if you know when if shows right time and when not

Yes, but a dedicated pause and unpause button would allow you and your allies to have near perfect timing, its similar to co-ordinated attack (when it works properly).
