Change Weapon Range

I would like to lower the range of the Scathis and Mavor, I am sure there is a way to do that. Could someone explain (in a simple way because I am not an experienced modder at all) how to do this?

Is there a way to do this for FAF? I do not see a gamedata folder for FAF or a units list that I can edit

I know that there a way to do this while in-game, but of course cheating...

You are not supposed to edit the gamedata files. Re-read the tutorial.

Make a mod. It is safer and easier to share with friends. If you change game data files, you risk running into big problems when you play with other people (even LAN parties). Make a mod and share it with your friends that way you can revert it if anything goes horribly wrong.

Again.... Make a mod... Do not change gamedata files. You run a BIG Risk

I don't know how to make a mod, is there a quick way to make a mod that changes the range on these units? I haven't modded before so I'd be starting from scratch?

Actually I've gotten fairly close on this, since I can restrict the mavor, salvation, and scathis I just need to restrict the T4 experimental launcher, anybody know of a unit restriction mod so I can get rid of that unit? I don't want to restrict other nukes or anything else, just the scathis, mavor, salvation and T4 launcher
