Dazzer wrote:Hi. I really like what this mod tries to do in making the game more readable when the screen gets busy but i cannot install it, i keep getting errors. I have tried extracting the file and running it from my SCFA steam install folder, SC folder in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, and Documents and Settings\All Users\FA Forever without any luck at all.

Is the error to do with a missing Runtime or Visual Studio or other???

I am on XP too but i dont believe that is to blame this time

**Uploaded a screenshot of the error i am getting**

This is an old windows XP issue that microsoft didnt fixed to this very day:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forum ... ?forum=wpf
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8971 ... on-monitor
When it happens, it's usually because of the color quality setting that is set to 16-bit or 24-bit. If it is the case then changing it to 32-bit should solve it.
I've bypassed the problem in this version:
download/file.php?id=9212
Apparently, WPF applications in windows XP dont like 256x256 sized icons on 32 bit color depth. :|
Let me know about If it solved your problem.

I have second thoughts about the yellow power generators. My concern is that their symbol's new color is too similar to the color of the mass deposits, making it a little confusing to differentiate at a glance, at least for me. Still, I might be wrong and it's just a matter of getting used to. Should I change it back to white?

I use that idle engy mod and it's really really good (I changed it to a black ! on a red background though, I think it's easier to see and more alarming than an E on a black background). Do you think you could include factories in this mod as well? Same goes for you Shadows if you integrate something in to ASI - you don't know how much you miss knowing where your idle build power is until you play with it.

From my experience, after a lot of studied feedback, I can tell you that the community is full with a majority who take the minimalist approach as the preferred choice (especially the higher ranked players). They demand subtle touches that get in their way as little as possible and that's what made me build the small and medium sets on my mod. Im telling you this because we could create a dedicated full fledged icon but In my opinion a simple orange '?' char without a background would be perfect. Just place it outside the unit's icon area so it won't conceal it like in this modified version:

idleEngineers.zip
[Windows 7]: Extract the mod folder to %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\mods
[Windows XP]: Extract the mod folder to %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\mods
(30.8 KiB) Downloaded 75 times

If the '?' char is not visible enough then we can increase its font size to 20px, at 20px text shadows gets really thick. If that wouldn't help then we could just change to a wider font.
We can also have a snoring sign of a triple 'z' cascading vertically, implying that the unit is not doing anything (sleeping).
The '!' char is an option too, respecting the original art decisions of FA.
