So why pause the mex?

Postby heelix » 16 Jul 2013, 15:31

Been watching the replays, and noticed that some folks will cap all their mex, pause them all, and then do the upgrades to the next level one at a time. Would it not be better to let all the mex stay running while you upgrade them, or is this just someone who is fine tuning an eco to make sure they don't run a deficit.

Not sure the question makes sense... want to make sure I'm not missing something fundamental here.

1) Select all mex, start upgraide, pause
2) select bunch of engies and make assist orders on mexes with shift
result - mexes upgraide one by one, and you are not mass stalling hard, also no need of many micro and many orders

But for example: t1 mex have buildpower of 10 = 2 egineers trapped inside of mex, if you pause, thouse 2 become completely useless.

You don't lose anything from having an upgrading mex paused - it's the same as an idle t1 mex. You just don't have to micro any eco upgrading and can leave your engineers to slowly upgrade all your eco whilst your micro is concentrated elsewhere. Whenever possible unpause the mex to utilise the extra buildpower.
