Brick vs loyalist

Postby Circuit » 27 May 2013, 07:13

When i watch cast i almost see cybran player to make brick and rarely loyalist.

So everytime when i reach t3 land , i make brick. When the battlefield isnt far away, they rain hell on it!! But when they have to walk almost 5 or 6 km... I could use tranport but not the safety thing to do and efficent with a t2 transport...

The loyalist is a fast unit , cheap and fast building (compare to brick) with my building setup i can spam them

Is the loyalist can be a good option?? What are the condition they can shine?? When i should switch to brick??

3 loyalists cost little more then 1 brick (480 to 1280), and kill brick even if brick and loyalist are microed

but range and HP of brick is just to big, and allows him to kite, hide behind t1 pd's and get vets, survive longer in battle, also brick bit better vs t1 units cause loyalit have sort of overkill while brick shoot constantly with 200 dmg projectives

Loyalists are better if you fight GC or other exp except ML, and can be good on big open maps, or on 4v4 when you have ability to swich flangs and double team someone with loyalists

Often getting a couple of loyalists out first allow you to get a grip before you can get the bricks out. Also mixing loyalists in is useful for using the emp death to stun other t3 units so the bricks can finish them off.

Also, if you didn't know, a loyalist will stun a GC if the GC pulls it in.

There are some tactics with loyalists and TML I want to try..

This won't be useful often, but purposefully leaving areas exposed to tml and then putting loyalists in the area usually leads to lol, especially when the enemy commander is firing tactical missiles.
I'd use them the same as titans; they're fast. Get them early, have them do serious damage to enemy army, (and get vet) before raiding past and into mexes and power. Then bring out the bricks en masse.

The titans fill a role they dont have to fit in Cybran army, because the Brick can do something the percy cant do: killing T1 efficiently

This is true Sheppard but both loyalists and titans are far cheaper and both combat t1 effectively; they are also fast and can cause lots of damage if they get past defenses.

Consider Cybran units are generaly weak and fast. Speed and the ability to destroy things quickly are key advantages. Bricks are essentially at odds with Cybran battle doctrine and serve as a hardpoint to counter the main enemy force.

However you should build both units, and operate them in serparate forces. Loyalist should be grouped with mantis and Hopplite. They work best on the flank and on the raid. Bricks on the slow moving frontline. Don't tie down Loyalists by escorting the Bricks. You loose all your advantages, and the Bricks don't really need the cover. Think of Bricks as a walking T3 PD, and you'll have the right idea.
