TA 2 hints

Postby Aulex » 16 Sep 2014, 01:32

Can anything be speculated from the job listings of wargaming for their Seattle office about ta 2?
Maybe someone with a more technical standpoint in the can answer this question.

Their senior software engineer position is looking for someone with Bigworld experience, they're looking for "vehicle" artists, their balance designer is preferred to have world of tanks experience and wargaming seattle's (ie ex gpg) blurb talks about developing the next "massively multiplayer" experience. For me, signs point to negative on the TA2 front.

there will not be a TA 2(in name and it history)... why?
Because is a pointless game, we have both FA and PA that make the same job and are released games, investing in a game like that would be waste of money because all the crow would be playing FA or PA... and PA is the closest that we have from TA, why someone would be playing on the same "boring" flat map, when he can play in a "awesome" spherical map.

P.S. StarCraft, C&C sells better than TA, so they will move more for a SC like game than a TA like game
PA can break this rule because of both Internet and spherical maps

P.S. IF you really want a TA 2, why not play PA?

Because most people find PA very hard to play because of the spherical map and the UI

And the spherical maps are boring (no reliefs, no point of interest, looks all the same).

PA is a failure. They have missed the mark on its release and backed out on so many promises I'm surprised every kickstarter-backer (including myself) has not knocked down the studio door with pitchforks and torches to take the place down.

All I really want is a SupCom FA remake with up-to-date engine and graphics, though.

Sorry this is off topic but I have to ask Aurion:

What more could you possibly want from SupCom's graphics? They are beautiful and vibrant, the texture detail is amazing, lighting, particle effects, everything. Remaking a game that came out a few years ago would be pointless.

Also another poster said something about SupCom "being" TA 2, well that is incorrect, play Total Annihilation and then play SupCom, tell me how the two are alike. SupCom's atmosphere is relatively happy and "human" feeling whereas TA's atmosphere is dark and sinister, hell, you don't even know whether humans exist anymore in TA's universe or whether the machines are just fighting on the orders of a species long extinct. That is the main factor about TA is the mood of the game, the darkness to it, compared to SupCom's very happy and bright atmosphere.

Supreme Commander Forged Alliance's graphics could be improved by such a huge amount, starting with the textures which are in most games not even the "problem" graphic-wise.
