The future battlefield and "cybrans"

In view of recent developments in a.i., robotics and understanding of human intelligence, it has become not far fetched
but expected, that a SupCom like army will exist by the end of this century at the latest, while cybernetically enhanced humans("cybrans") will probably appear significantly earlier.
In a society still preoccupied by myths of the past, and routine problems, such an event will probably seem to occur out of the blue and will find itself unprepared.
Things like sentience and respect to sentient beings are discussed very little, while at the same time crimes occur against humanity. Taking into consideration, that the rights of the citizens, the discrimination of the races and the sexes are issues "resolved" only in the recent past, the prospect of introducing a broader and disorientating definition of intelligence, sentience or personality has the potential of causing a social havoc.
What is more tormenting, the thought of a SupCom like army in the hands of people who know little of the horrors of war and they just don't care. How will you trust an army like this in people with serious psychological disorders? This is more frightening than the thoughts of nukes in their hands.
How is it possible that you don't feel lame when you wage war from your desktop?And what meaning could possibly have a war executed by "machines"?
