New chance?

Postby Godfather » 05 Jan 2013, 13:49

At the moment Gas Powered Games is working on Age of Empires online, but some minutes ago i read at:

http://www.computerbase.de/news/2013-01/microsoft-age-of-empires-online-wird-nicht-weiterentwickelt/
(sry it´s in german, but they linked the microsoft blog)

http://ageofempiresonline.com/en/articles/blog-20130103 (it´s in english)

that they stopped the development for Age of Empires Online!!!

This means Gas Powered Games has no official project at the moment!

What do you think is this a bad or a good news? Is there a chance for a real SupCom remake?

edit:
There are no news about the end of development at the hp of GPG:

0% chance it's a supcom game, about 1% that it's a RTS I would say. (accordingly to what CT told us in the FAF launch cast and the fact that they were hiring for an action/adventure game).

I really hope it's not a browser game, because they say it's "the next big thing" next to Supreme Commander, it's supposed to be something impressive. However, Chris Taylor spoke only of the incredible potential of browser games when he talked during FAF release, saying it's the future, and that his company would explore that direction. He was precisely saying that browser games are "the next big thing" in the video game industry. Hence my wild guess.

I really don't think it's nice to wish failure on anyone in the industry.

CT gave us several truly incredible games. That's more than most developers, and certainly more than what the majority of those posting can say.

I wish them all the best in their endeavors, regardless of whether or not it conforms to my personal gaming preferences. :)
