Hmm, so having subtle variations of the same unit roles is great for SupCom, but such design would be mind numbingly boring for another RTS game? Sounds inconsistent to me. Or you dislike Zero-K due to the differences between the factories are actually not subtle? That's more understandable, although I find it a bit arbitrary to only like a certain amount of unit distinctness.

I must say though, I'm having some fun playing Zero-K. Part of it might be having a new game to learn, but I just feel it's very interesting having the completely flat tech tree with every option immediately available. This is in contrast to SupCom (less so in TA) where you only have a few obvious choices for units at each stage of the game.
