I had a similar issue yesterday. I had a group of a dozen cybran destroyers closing in on the enemy naval yards. I selected my destroyers and right clicked on about 15 targets to attack them. Most (but not all) of the targets were enemy engineers assisting the enemy navy factory. To prevent all destroyers over-killing the same engineer, I pressed shift-G (spread attack). The instant I pressed shift-G, the game locked up (no simulation, no sound, no mouse movement, no zooming, nothing.) Shift-G locked up my game. I waited about 2 minutes then killed FA through Crtl-Alt-Del and task manager. The rest of the players were able to continue the game.

I am not sure if the issue is exactly the same as listed by the OP, but maybe so.

I tried it before in sandbox 100 asf vs 100 asf. queuing like 20 target then pressing "g" for spread attack, creat a big freeze (for every one in the game) and then work as before after ~5 sec freeze

It may not be a bug. Just your computer's CPU conking out as it tries to navigate a large squadron of units independently instead of as a group. Every time you give a move or attack order FA will try to map the best possible path, normally doing so for the whole squad, but when you hit G to split the order, it calculates as many paths as you have units.

The thing is just that if you have N units and you give K orders then shift g creates N*K orders. So if you have 300 asf and you give 20 orders then shift g it actually creates 6000 orders.

I had this issue with SHIFT-G before. It always crashed my game, without me giving a lot of targets.

Now this seems fixed for me , as I didn't receive any new crash, but what I did for that, I couldn't tell you.

Personally I have not experienced any crash or pause when using the shift+g command. Seems to work flawlessly even when using large groups of air.
