Downlord Client map download bug.

Postby Umenyalapkee » 21 Apr 2019, 13:52

There is a probleb with it. New client download maps in Gas Powered Games folder, but steam versiot of the game use (obviosly) steam map. If manually move map it right folder - game can run it. Overtwise - there a map missing bug even if map is dowloaded.

Now its works like -
- Download map.
- Open wrong folder.
- Move map in right folder.
- Run game lobby.
- Pick map from lobby.
So if game see and can use map, client don't see it. I think that with Gas Powered Games version that bug don't exist, but if there official need to have game in steam to play, it wold be fair if steam version also work by defolt. Not by manyal fixing.

It would be fairly easy to fix, but there is no way to change the path for the download folder. Please, can someone let me know how this problem can be solved.

We're gonna release a fixed client version as soon as possible.
Can you please post the directories where the client expects/puts the map and where the game needs it?

It's trues to use
C:\Users\Username\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
and its strange because GPG version of game never was installed on that sistem
If I put map in steam folder where game actually is - map can be used.Alsco some mods, like aditinal camera staff not working even if it was installed before new client.
Im not only one who has that promlem. Maybe it is because of kirrilc username, but if it is - better way to fix it - let change map folder for a faf.

This *should* be fixed with 0.10.3, the latest update. Get it from the website.

If not fixed, post here so we know, please!

Shit Client tries to put maps and mods to C:\Users\*user*\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance
But than it tries to take them from folder used by proper client C:\ProgramData\FAForever\user\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance

If i remember it correctly FAF didn't like cyrrilic symbols in past, so this folder would avoid cyrrilic user names.

Moving my maps manually in 2019 is so lovely!

the python client was unable to deal with special chars which is why have that other folder in programdata

so the "shit" client would be the legacy one in that case

check the sub folders in C:\ProgramData\Faforever\
might be that the legacy client stored mods/maps from the vault there cause it couldn't deal with your windows username

the default folder for the game to check for maps/mods are
a) the game install (where the default maps/mods from gas powered games are)
