Collection of current bugs

since the http://faf.statuspage.io is either lieing or just not up to date (EDIT: last update was in march...), I post a more accurate version of the points there:

Replay Vault (probably replay server): Partial Outage
-games not ended/replays not uploaded
-replays often corrupted
-replays often desync
-Winners are not shown correctly
-replays of games on higher version of a map not shown

Live Replay Server: Degraded Performance
-players shown in games that already ended
-list of games doesnt correspond to those actually played at the time (several days old, one can see that on games that have a starttime which is in the future)
-friends not colored anymore

IRC Server: Degraded Performance
-color for friendly moderators (why purple :( )
-upload of avatars malfunctioning


Lobby Server: Major Outage
-many games have individual disconnects between players where 2 players lose connection to each other while staying connected to everyone else (this became less frequent but still happens)
-sometimes games desync when a player leaves
-some players are only able to connect in gamelobby when restarting faf multiple times
-desynced games affect rating
-lobby preset crashes the host (now presets are removed...)

Mod vault: Partial Outage
-Mods cannot be uploaded (only with Downlords client)

Map vault Partial Outage
-maps cannot be uploaded (only with Downlords client)

other problems:
-scores not always reported correctly (even after the latest update)
-game statistics show "data not available" instead of actual stats when the game ended
-hovering acu has a shifted hitbox and cant be hit anymore
-beetles teleporting from transport when split attack is used
-galactic war still not operational
-Coop broken
-Nomads broken
- featured mods don't show up as an activated mod when hosting it (aka normal lobby cant be distinguished from it)
- rating evolution plot missing
-Team matchmaker is currently offline
-Tourney page not correctly working
-Diamond and Vanilla not working
-Murderparty shows score in the same way as usual game where it was supposed to count successful kills
-Tutorial tab not working (links are outdated)
-ACU sometimes able to shoot and build at the same time

if you can think of anything else, just post it in a comment

last update 19.4.17:
removed issues:
- featured mods don't show up as an activated mod when hosting it (aka normal lobby cant be distinguished from it)
- Nomads broken

I fixed this one for next FAF client release :)

It was part of my new trading system where I will fix a bug for someone if they promise to take some time out to check the FAF Dev school wiki (this one I traded for with Hzale, hope you checked out the wiki mate :D). Let me know what bug you hate the most and we can trade too.

as far as i remember team machmaker was almost working when zep removed it :(

Replay Vault doesn't show winners correctly

pm and livereplays don't colour friends anymore

I only ask because i really don't understand the actual development strategy! I really appreciate the work of all the devs!!!

There are a few people working really hard in their freetime on FAF, right? But why do they work on things like mentioned here: https://github.com/FAForever/fa/milestones/3656 instead of repairing something like the replay, map or mod vault?

I think that it would be better to have a working plattform instead of having mexes that surround themselves with storages...

Working in the sense of "Does the job but leaks about 4GB of memory per hour", yes.

As for why devs work on "the wrong things": not everyone who contributes has the skills to work on every part of the system, so some people simply can't work on "more important" bugs.
Also, since everyone who works here does it as a hobby, people tend to do things they want to do, or find fun. It just so happens that fixing the map/mod vaults is a task that requires skills relatively rare in the dev team, and it isn't very much fun (mostly because it involves going near some of the ickiest, ZePiest code that's still left).

On the other hand, I'm back, and currently turning my attention to the client: something I never poked at before. So maybe I can make a difference.

People have gotten to the point where they are now considering putting up cash bounties for fixing the vaults, myself included
Take from this intel what you wish, but if you need a cash incentive to finally go look at what has been down for nearly half a year, its pretty sad
