HOW TO CLEAN FAF instalation

GERMAN version bellow ENGLISH(or my version of that language XD)

EDIT / UPDATE 19/03/2016 due to version 0.11.53 + 430 Release

EDIT / UPDATE 10/02/2016 due to version 0.11.49 + 356 Release

EDIT / UPDATE 9/02/2016 due to version 0.11.47 + 348 Release

after trying to do my best into helping some people having issues, one common issue is the new FAF version having issues with stuff from older instalations, so, if someone needs to completly clean their system , here it goes :


this is for DVD version of Forged Alliance, Steam version uses most of the folders here


uninstall FAF from control panel
you can use My computer to access the following folders, or you can press WINDOWS KEY + R, the open box will appear, and you can just paste the contents of code box

delete folder if exists

C:\Program Files (x86)\Forged Alliance Forever

backup replays folder, its your saved games, and then delete

C:\ProgramData\FAForever

you can save mods and maps, but I sugest you rename this folder, to avoid mod problems

C:\Users\%username%\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance

delete folder if exists

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\ForgedAllianceForever

rename game.prefs file to game.prefs.old

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance

Open the Original Forged Alliance, create an user profile and set resolution

donwload Forged.Alliance.Forever-0.11.53-win32.msi from https://github.com/FAForever/client/releases

the file has md5 of :

you can use http://www.winmd5.com/download/winmd5free.zip to check

disable firewall, antivirus, close stuff

install Forged.Alliance.Forever-0.11.53-win32.msi

host a FAF game, it will download all stuff and you will have a lobby

Hallo, ich empfehle dir eine vollständige und saubere neuinstallation von FAF.

deinstalliere FAF durch das control panel
Öffne mein Computer

lösche folgenden Ordner falls er besteht:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Forged Alliance Forever

fertige eine Sicherung deines replay ordners an und dann lösche ihn

C:\ProgramData\FAForever

du kannst deine mods und maps speichern aber es wäre wohl das beste wenn du den Order umbenennst um Probleme zu vermeiden.

lösche folgenden Ordner fall er besteht:

benenne die Datei game.prefs um zu game.prefs.old

Öffne das originale Spiel Forged Alliance und erstelle dort ein Profil sowie deine Auflösung

dowload Forged.Alliance.Forever-0.11.53-win32.msi unter https://github.com/FAForever/client/releases

Die Datei hat eine md5 [Prüfsumme?] von :

installiere diese Datei und hoste ein FAF Spiel, es sollte alles notwendige herunterladen werden und die Spiellobby für dich öffnen.
