$50 1v1 Calibration tournament (u1000 ladder ranking)

I didnt play in November so far, am a bit rusty from 1-2 months off. Also i have 995 ladder atm. I kinda fear being accused of rating dumping in the 10 matches that i need to qualify if i say gg in a lost game. (especially since i had an icredible winning spree before i went on hiatus, going up from 720 to just below 1k in around one month). If I win too much now i would be over the 1k treshold. So what counts as rating dumping? (Fortunately im rusty, so i play bad naturally without needing to lose on purpose )

If you went up this much in a month it means you aren't really 720 and system adjusted your rating according to your skill. The point of playing 10 games in getting accurate rating for participants. This means you can participate if you stay below 1k after 10 ladder games.

i do realise its probably too late for this but holding the tourney on the same day as lots qualifier will be pretty detrimental for its popularity

Given the number of games each person would have to play, and the difficulty of getting everyone together on the same day, it probably has to be done on a Saturday. If it is going to be moved, it would have to be moved a full week. (Can't move it two weeks because of LotS Qualifier #4).

In terms of popularity, in terms of live viewership or near-live viewership, this tournament will be overshadowed by the qualifier. But in terms of replays being hosted on YouTube, they will be there for people to watch later. The best tournament games could be casted in the weeks following the tournament (while we are waiting for LotS). If people are interested in watching these games, they probably aren't going to care much whether the game is 1 hour old vs 1 week old vs 1 month old. So it's probably going to be okay.

Also, I think the goal is not so much to generate interest in FAF from outside the community, as much as generating interest in the community to participate (directly in the tournament, or just to ladder moar). Hopefully this is the first of many similar "calibrations" tournaments.
