give me the source code and i will try to port faforever to linux.
python and python qt are super portable. Forged Alliance has platinum status already as far as wine is concerned.
a superior game should be playable on a superior operating system IMO.

I have to port some sensitive code to C++ before releasing the code publicly.
Chances are that these ports will solve the wine problem.

But if I do that, you will have to use FAFOREVER through wine (unless I give a .so, chances that this happen as really near 0).

there is no need to release the source code. you can ship compiled code to linux the same way as you do with py2exe.

It won't work with the current code. Too many things tied to windows.

Hello i must say great work with your Lobby! :D

I try also to get FAForever working under Linux.

FA works great under Linux (Wine). FAFforever works also (Lobby started - I can login - Patch the Game - Start a Game)!

The only thing thats me going nuts is that Ingame no Damage can done.

Everything else worked (building/tech/reclaiming/)!

I think with a little help that can work.

And i think that more Users are on linux when more games and progs running under it!

Thanks

bye

hpk

hpk, how did you get faforever running under wine?
can you write a playonlinux script or tell me the settings to use under wine?

I'm wondering too how hpk managed to get a login on the lobby client. I can't seem to appease it's library requirements at the moment. Seems like .NET 4.0 is the culprit as I have the other required libraries installed.

I would be pretty glad to see this work under linux, as FA was running much better on linux through wine than on Windows (as I have much more memory and CPU time available due to the lack of Windows).
