Hi all,

since Blimey stepped down from organising this tournament, i take over.
Rules are the same as usual (see the first post from lextoc).

lextoc wrote:World Wide Championship

Sign up and become one of the Champions of FAF!

This tournament is infinite. It's a battle for the title of Champion. There are four of these titles as the tournament is divided in 4 rating ranges, which means there is a title to be grabbed for everyone!

The divisions

This is a non-stop tournament with 4 divisions, which are the following (with the avatar that the current Champion gets):

Image O1900 (over 1900 ladder rating)
Image U1900 (under 1900 ladder rating)
Image U1500 (under 1500 ladder rating)
Image U1100 (under 1100 ladder rating)

There is a tolerance of a 100 rating points, but this only counts for people who want to be placed in a higher division, example:
A player with 1425 rating has the option to join U1500, or U1900. A player with 1550 rating however is not allowed to join U1500, he may only join U1900.

How does this work?

Everyone can sign up to challenge the Champion of their division. However, if there is more than one challenger, they will be having a little knockout (lose once, you're out) tournament between them hosted by the TD on common 5x5 and 10x10 maps.

In case both players agree to play a different map in their knockout game, they may do so. To make this official both players must mention they agreed to this in the in-game chat.

Fighting the Champion

The remaining challenger will get to play a BO5 (five games) against the Champion. The maps will be chosen like this:

1. This map gets chosen by the challenger
2. This map gets chosen by the current Champion
3. This map gets chosen by the current Champion
4. This map gets chosen by the challenger
5. This map gets chosen by the current Champion

You may not play a map in the BO5 for the Champion title more than once. The challenger will get to choose a map if the end result of the BO5 is a draw. If one of the players won before the BO5 is finished, they may finish it if both players want to, but this isn't mandatory.

The schedule

Wednesday: knockouts will be posted.
First week: knockouts get played.
Second week: Champions BO5's get played.
Repeat.

If due to some reason you can't play your game in time, contact the TD. Not letting the TD know may result in either disqualification or a temporary/permanent ban from WWC.

How do I sign up?

Sign up here with a post mentioning your division.

Signing up for multiple divisions is not allowed. Champions that CAN sign up for a higher division may do so (see small text at "The divisions").

Reporting results

Reporting results happens by the winner by default. Post the results here with the replay ID.

You may put the result(s) of the replay(s) in a spoiler to prevent spoiling the game for observers.

Important

- Always leave via the score screen to make sure the replays don't get corrupted.
- The TD can always change the rules.
- The TD is a nice and open-minded guy. If you think something in here is absurd or anything like that, just PM him.
- Game settings are the same as the ones in ladder.
- There are certain mods which the TD will allow if both players agree.
- A disconnect has to be discussed with the TD if both players don't agree to play the game again.
- You can reclaim your avatar by a moderator, PM one in the client.
- As with any tournament, you will earn a tournament participants avatar for signing up and finishing your WWC round.

Donations are always welcome for the TD's time. (Paypal lextoc: [email protected])

The next knockouts will get posted on wednesday, August 16th to give more players time to sign in.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Don't complain about that which you aren't willing to change.

U1900

And as for Lich Kings comment: no, all tournament matches are to be ranked. Read up on the rules if you don't know them.

Btw, thanks for taking this over. It's really disappointing when someone ditches a responsibility and gives no word on reasoning.

If you need any help, HappyIdiot, let me know. Are you a TD? I am not certain non-TDs can take this over without knowing the rules we have in place.

Hey, thx for the help Morax. :)
Im not a TD yet but iam aiming to become one, with this tournament to begin with. Im not sure if the "mentor-rule" applies to this tournament too, but if it does i would be glad if you would teach me.

Cheers!
