Nomad is changing many game .lua files.

To update those files, you need to compare them, and merge all changes from the FAF lua files to the Nomad lua files.
Then you have to adapt/rewrite the additional nomad functions to work with the new FAF environment.

Thats all :)

I calculated for myself 40-50 working hours for updating nomads.

So this will make you crazy while updating, but awesome famous if you did it :D

Sounds like a good challenge and would definitely increase my modding knowledge. I think Ill give it a shot. I'll prollt make another thread here giving updates on my progress if I make any headway. Thanks for the info.

@RavenCurow:

first thing, you should manage is to make a develop envroiment for the nomad mod.
Because its not a normal mod, you can't execute it from a normal modfolder.

You should extract the scd(zip) archiv and write a initfile like init_faf.lua to start the modded game with this.

and scroll down a bit. there is a complete totorial how to make such an ini file.

Ah you mean I need to make my own Nomads_data_path_lua. I figured as much. Thanks for the tutorial link. I'll look it over. I actually have one for steam Nomads.

Uveso I will forever be thankful to you for showing me this tutorial. Those command line arguments are a mod developers wet dream. I've been restarting the game everytime I changed something before.

Hehe i know exactly what you mean. :)

this is my standard command line:

C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin\ForgedAlliance.exe /init init_repo_fa.lua /EnableDiskWatch /log n:\work\game.log /showlog

/init init_repo_fa.lua = my ini for the develop version from FA on Github
/EnableDiskWatch = Oh Yes! instant reloading most of the gamefiles.
/log n:\work\game.log = direct the gamelog where "i" want it saved :)
/showlog = Opens the LogWindow on gamestart. Good for Errors inside the lobby.

btw, if you really start to update nomads, then you should join the FA Forever Slack Chat.
This way you can get more and faster information's or help.
Just an idea :)

Ah how would I go about doing that? I'd prollt do that once I get started and Im confident I can get most of it done myself. Sounds like a lot of it will just be copy and paste with some rewrite here and there. Not sure with comparing though. Tomorrow starts my weekend from work so I'll get started then. I think first Ill just see if I can get it to connect to the lobby again lol.

You can't play your develop version over the FA Lobby. You need your own ini_nomad.lua start script.
Tricky, but you can mod the original init_nomads.lua and write protect it.
Make sure your are not mounting *.nmd and use your own path.
