well if lore is a concern it doesn't have to be the actual crystal, perhaps there sera have engineered a jammer array from the crystal and are using that

actually I had a likewise idea, didnt notice this topic when I was quikly running down a few pages, but if you wanna stick to the campaign mechanics and a bit of the way things work in the supcom world you wouldnt pick a crystal as a buildable t4 nor make it a very high ranged unit, bring in the jamming array, adding random radar blips either all over the map or just in a range about the same as an omni radar around the structure, also little OP addition would be to pick hotspots on the map where you want radar blips, fake jamming persay without a unit having to be there (up to 3 locations? 3k e for every location?)

No hover bombing is required It is a very nice unit.

Yth could use a buff. It sucks.

Only the red ring, so on fields of Isis, if it does get to 50 min in and a hammer is built the other team will still get good radar over about half the map. It, with some stealth fields, would make it very tough to see what is in a base

Think about how the attack satellite fits into the game, it would kind of work like that. Not game ending but definitely giving an advantage

i think that the jammer crystal would be hard to use properly. it doesn't really give a direct advantage - so you kinda either never build it, or you build it out of habit because its a thing that's supposed to be good, not because you want it specifically.
