strategically, choosing a risky strategy is not the best

I like living dangerously. :) Although once or twice it seemed that the opposing player didn't know any better (or was deliberately trying to take one for his team) by following my ACU. I suppose in those circumstances I should try com blocking with my spam, yes?

Come to think of it, it's funny how experience teaches oblique lessons. Many times on here guys have moaned about com blocking... This is one example of why com blocking turns out to be a good idea.

Does going under water shield your ACU from the blast in any way? If it did, that'd be cool (and 'realistic' imo).

ETA: would it haz a flavor if any unit that gets in the killing shot on an acu instantly gets a vet upgrade (if there are any slots left)?

it is also possible to get a veteranicy for an ACU kill with your ACU, and that way you can get extra health before explosion

But that is fairly rare ofc :D

I've now drawn a couple of ladder games and got ejected from some team games because I take liberties with my com. I'm probably not /too/ aggressive with it, what I lack is decent backup spam to go along with it.

Anyway... In the above cases I had the upper hand but clearly my com did not have enough HP left to survive the opposing blast even in full retreat, and GG.

I would appreciate some tips to avoid this happening again. How many HP should I be aiming for before I retreat? I have tried getting vet ranks when on the cusp but usually my opponent just didn't have anything left, or tried focussing my support tanks on the ACU so that my com had some targets. This is clearly not a reliable strategy if you don't have gun.

Halp!

Thanks!
Ryan
